We, the Hypo Pfandbrief Bank International S.A., are a European special credit institution headquartered in Luxembourg. Hypo Pfandbrief Bank International – HPBI – was established in 1999 as an autonomous business unit. HPBI is a subsidiary of Hypo Real Estate Bank International.

 

We are active in the international public-sector lending business and our mission is to further develop this segment by setting innovative impulses. This encompasses the financing of governmental and government-related borrowers in Europe and other OECD countries. We refinance our business with a wide range of products that we offer across international financial markets. In addition to the existing function of funding public sector entities, we are working on being able to issue mortgage backed Pfandbriefe ("lettres de gage hypothecaires") in the near future as a further instrument for funding the operations of Hypo Real Estate Bank International. Thus, HPBI will be involved in the international real estate financing activities of Hypo Real Estate Bank International.

Hypo Pfandbrief Bank International's objective is to build up a diversified credit portfolio for international governmental and government-related borrowers. Given the legal provisions in Luxembourg, we are able to finance regional and local authorities from all OECD countries, which also enables us to establish business relationships with public borrowers outside of the European Union - without compromising the quality of credit granted. We offer our borrowers customized financing solutions of individually selected maturities, volumes and risk profiles.
